The Orange County Chef

Tom Catrow, Owner Chef

When you bring Chef Tom into your home, you are not just hiring someone to cook. You are inviting in a private chef who treats your gathering like it matters, because to him it does. People who have worked with the Orange County Chef describe a calm, confident, and kind presence in the kitchen. That matters more than most people realize. You are trusting someone in your space, around your family and your guests, and Tom carries himself in a way that puts everyone at ease from the moment he arrives.

What to Expect From the Orange County Chef

The experience starts with a real conversation about what you want. Tom listens first, then builds the meal around your occasion rather than handing you a fixed menu. Clients consistently point to how experienced, trustworthy, and respectful he is, which is exactly what you want when a personal chef is prepping and cooking in your home. You can expect professionalism from the first message to the final plate, and you can expect him to care about the details you care about.

Personal Chef Meals Built Around Your Special Occasion

Tom cooks the kind of food people remember. Guests have raved about perfectly cooked steak, fresh salads, salmon, and desserts like tiramisu that round out the whole spread. One guest who is genuinely picky about seafood called the fish and the sauce flawless, which is not an easy thing to pull off for someone who notices every detail. Whether it is an intimate dinner or a full celebration, you get food that tastes considered and made just for the moment.

High End In Home Dining and Catering

This is not generic weekly meal prep. Tom has leaned fully into creating an experience, which is why he is a natural fit for anniversaries, birthdays, and special occasions where the food is meant to be the centerpiece. He is also a thoughtful choice for life moments that call for a little extra care, like a gift of home cooked meals for a new mom, support for seniors, or a family that simply needs beautiful food during a busy stretch. The setting changes, but the standard does not.

Decades of Culinary Experience You Can Taste

There is real training behind the plate. Tom studied hospitality in college, apprenticed in a respected French kitchen, and went on to formal culinary education at the Western Culinary Institute. Over the years he has cooked at high profile events, prepared meals for well regarded figures, and handled the kind of pressure that separates a seasoned professional from a hobbyist. That background shows up quietly in how smoothly your event runs, even when you never see the work happening behind the scenes.

Chef Tom Believes in the Joy of Breaking Bread

Ask Tom what he wants you to walk away with and the answer is simple. He wants you happy, and he wants you to feel the joy of gathering people around good food. That belief has been with him since he was a teenager falling in love with cooking, and it still drives how he approaches every booking today. When you work with the Orange County Chef, you are getting someone who sees a meal as a way to bring people together, not just a service to deliver.

Why People Refer the Orange County Chef

Much of Tom's work comes from word of mouth, and that tells you something on its own. People book him, enjoy the experience, and then hand his name to friends and family because they trust him with their own. If you get the chance to have a meal prepared by Chef Tom, the people who have already done it have the same advice. Do not pass it up.

When I eat fish, I am really picky about how it is prepared, and what I had at a recent dinner event we attended was perfect. (An impressive accomplishment.) The fish was cooked just right and the sauce was so amazing. I mentioned this to Chef Tom when I met him at the event but I wanted to make it official here too. If you ever get an opportunity to eat food prepared by the Orange County Chef, don't pass it up!
